MAAN!! Fuck A Grammy. (Long read, be prepared)

So I just saw Lil Wayne and Ne-Yo get nominated for AOTY @ the Grammy's. I got pissed off, and then I thought about it: I'M DOIN MY LISTS FOR THIS YEAR! (Done in no specific order unless I say so)

WORST ALBUM OF THE YEAR (and why) (only 5 of these):
1. Lil Wayne "The Carter III" - 2 Words: Phone Home
2. Common "Universal Mind Control" - I've never been so disappointed in my life. At first run through I kinda liked it, but when I listened to the whole album, I learned that that shit was buttjuice (yes, buttjuice.) First, Peace love and gap and now, this?!?! Come on, Com. But I can commend him on soundin energized. One thing he did right on this album.
3. Kanye West "808's and Heartbreak" - Okay, Kanye. I get what you're tryin' to do. Listen, you pretentious bastard. You can't be all like "I use the autotune to symbolize heartbreak." Nigga, you used autotune, because you can't sing but wanted wayyyyy too bad to be a pop star. Cut the bullshit, fam. It'd be better if your album didn't suck complete ass.
4. T-Pain "Thr33 Ringz" - Haven't heard it, but I just know
5. Usher "Here I Stand" - Okay, you've had good album after good album after good album. Then you take a hiatus, and come back with this?! I was only somewhat disappointed w/ Jay-Z b/c he did his own thing. It just coulda been better, but you did the same shit every other R&B "singer" is doing. Come on, fam. Step it up.

20 BEST SONGS OF THE YEAR:

6. My Morning Jacket "Thank You"
7. The Roots feat. Malik B and Porn "I Can't Help It"
8. Flying Lotus "RobertaFlack"
9. Unforscene "So Long"
10. Nas "Breathe"
11. 14KT "ICU Smile"
12. Black Milk feat. Royce Da 5'9" "Losing Out"

8. Raphael Saadiq "The Way I See It"

5. Flying Lotus "Los Angeles"
4. The Roots "Rising Down"
3. Black Milk "Tronic"
2. Nas "Nigger" (I know it's Untitled, but it'll always be Nigger to me)
1. Q-Tip "The Renaissance"
Honorable Mentions: Portishead "Third", 14KT "The Golden Hour", Kid Cudi "A Kid Named Cudi", Zo! and Tigallo Love The 80's, Elzhi "The Preface"

MVP OF THE YEAR: PHONTE
1.) Zo! and Tigallo Love The 80's
2.) Foreign Exchange
3.) An insane amount of collabos
He's that dude this yr.

ALSO, for the first time ever, I've had an album which has simultaneously been one of the best AND worst album of the year. That would be...
Illa J "Yancey Boys" - The beats are AMAZING!, but Illa J's not exactly what you would call a lyrical monster. Nearly... I woulda loved to hear Pharcyde (or somebody else!) on a few of those tracks.

Ah! That's done. Can't wait for 2009 to start.
